Hope this letter reaches you okay
Everyone is fine here, day by day.
Brought the horses up yesterday
Winter pastures and alfalfa hay
Your brother put Mandy on old Bill
I watched them coming up the hill
From the kitchen window
it took my breath away
For a minute I saw your Father and you.
Deer hunting is over for the year
Bet you're glad you weren't here
I can smell the snow in the air
Not looking forward to that shit
Did your sister call?
She gets lonely, I worry
But you kids are busy I suppose
You know your father's plans
Were to always keep you kids close.
How are you doing at work?
Seems I have too much time now
Waited my whole damn life to retire
Do some sewing, sit by the fire
Never thought I would miss the cows
It's just me and the old dog now
He sleeps in your father's chair
Should throw that chair out
But I still see your Father there
Well kiddo better let you go
Not much news to close
Grandma Brown stopped by
As your Father always said
Can't do much but try
I wish you weren't in that city
And I hope that you are happy
Sending all my love always
I will be watching with your Father
When you come to say good bye
Letters from home
Letters too old to answer.
